Ephesians 1:4-6 NIV 2011

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

Paul began his letter to the church in Ephesus stating the purpose for their being. God’s faithful were to glorify God because He has equipped all believers in everyway to do just that. Assurance for all believers comes through knowing He choses each one. 2 Thessalonians 2:13b, “because God chose you as firstfruits.” Paul stated God called those He chose as His. Romans 8:30 “And those he predestined, he also called.” Salvation comes through faith alone. God’s purpose is to bring all things in Heaven and earth together under Christ.

I’ve loved this Scripture for a multitude of reasons but mostly because “He chose me.” Yes, I did need to choose to follow Christ, but God chose me first. I spent summers with a friend who was adopted. Her parents chose her and that is the picture I have of Him choosing me. Of all the girls my age, he reached out and chose me. That’s led me to daily feel special. By sharing His Truth, I’m part of His purpose to bring all things under Christ.

How will we share His Truth with others?

Chosen by God,
