Numbers 27:23, Deuteronomy 31:23 NIV 2011
Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the Lord instructed through Moses.
The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them oath, and I myself will be with you.”
Moses sought the Lord when he knew his time of leadership was ending. God calls those He choses. Numbers 27:18, “So the Lord said to Moses, ‘Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him.’” Pharaoh saw Joseph’s worth after Joseph interpreted his dream. Genesis 41:39, “Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.’” He placed Joseph in charge of the whole land of Egypt, Genesis 41:41-49. God commissions and strengthens the courageous He calls.
Romans 8:31b, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Isaiah 41:10b, “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” A few favorite Scriptures I go to when the Lord calls me to serve. When the task seems daunting my next verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” God commissions those He choses. He calls me daily to serve in His powerful strength.
Where is God calling us to serve?
Strengthened to serve,
