Matthew 4:14-15 NIV 2011
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Jesus was and always will be the Light of the World. John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” As the light for the Gentiles, Jesus envisioned His followers carrying on His work. Paul expected the same, Philippians 2:15b-16a, “Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.” The Son’s Light of life safely guides those that follow Jesus Christ.
The older I get, the more I need light to see what I need to see. Ordering food in dimly lit restaurants is frustrating. I’ve been known to pull out my iPhone and use my flashlight to read what’s good on menu. Light is an important part of our lives. Salvation gave us Spiritual light that helps guide us through our everyday existence. The Light of Christ continually illuminates my path. Jesus is my Light in the darkness of today.
Why does His Light keep shining?
Daily Jesus lights our path,
