3 John 1:11 NIV 2011
Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
The Apostle John wrote his third letter to Gaius who was the leader of a church in western Asia Minor. He encouraged him because of his support for those coming to teach the Good News. His letters were an endorsement for Gaius’ stalwart stand for the Savior. John knew the root of their problem was sin. 1 John 3:6, “No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.” Jesus wanted this same truth to be evident in the lives of all believers. Jesus remains in the lives of those who remain in Him.
At Frankfurt airport this morning, I watched and listened to a young toddler scream for what she wanted over and over again. Since she was in the boarding area where we were seated I knew she would be on our flight. The tide changed when her mother lifted her up and walked her away to chat wit her. God has never lifted me up and walked away with me but there are times I wish He would. What He does do is give me opportunities to learn from my selfish desires. Daily remaining in Him, He remains in me.
Why would God remain with us?
