1 Peter 1:3b-4 NIV 2011
In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”
Peter was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. His letter was written to offer God’s people the future hope they all shared as believers. By lifting their eyes from the furry that surrounded them to the Father they would see His great mercy. Titus 3:5, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” All who believe Jesus died for the sins of man are heirs of His gift: salvation and eternal life. Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe every tear away from their eyes.” Faith in Jesus Christ guarantees believers living hope and an indestructible inheritance.
I asked myself this morning “Is my faith unshakeable?” I’d like to believe having weathered the storms of my life thus far my faith is on solid ground. But why do I forget what Christ did for me? Possibly the world obscures my view which doesn’t allow me to rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ. I know God’s Word turns my eyes from the day-to-day difficulties I face to the assurance I have in Christ. Because of living hope and indestructible inheritance given at salvation I persevere.
What daily struggles make us forget Jesus?
Sharing our living hope,
