Hebrews 10:22-23 NIV 2011
Let us draw near to God with sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews author presents believers ways to be reconciled to God. God’s faithful must be aligned with God alone: a sincere heart. They will not waiver in their faith by trusting and following Him alone. Once confessed, sin has no hold on believers. Following Christ in baptism, believer’s sins have been washed away. Romans 6:3, “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?” Christ is hope to believers. Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house.” God’s faithful draw near to Him through prayer.
Sitting in our room overlooking Darling Harbour is a time to reflect. Another year walking by faith, many doors opened to us. There was renewal of friendships, watching four grandchildren grow and time spent in countless places. Each mile marker of the year was an unexpected blessing. The best time was spent daily in His Word, that and looking back to see how God was a part of every day reminds me of His faithfulness. I am able to daily draw near to Him through prayer.
