Isaiah 9:6-7a NIV 2011

For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.

Jesus Christ was born seven hundred years after Isaiah predicted His advent. The world would be shaken with His coming. He arrived in a lowly place to Mary and Joseph, a few barnyard animals and some shepherds. The apostle Luke wrote of His birth, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Jesus came to save sinners. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus Christ is New Hope for all who follow Him.

The house is a buzz in anticipation of tomorrow and family arriving this afternoon. One grand is asleep and one is hanging out. And yet I can still wonder at what happened over two thousand years ago. God’s plan of salvation came to earth to save me. For that I will be eternally thankful for what He did. As Christmas is celebrated around the world, I pray we all remember to worship the King of Kings. Daily He is our New Hope!

How will we thank God today?
