Hebrews 6:4-5 NIV 2011
It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age.
The Holy Spirit is God’s gift. Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” The Holy Spirit is given as people begin following Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:2, “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?” The Holy Spirit guides believers to taste God’s goodness. Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” Grace comes as a gift from the Holy Spirit.
Growing up in the church in the 1950’s and 60’s the Trinity and the Holy Spirit were words I knew but did not understand their meaning to me. When I began to study God’s Word the mystery was gone, I knew the Trinity and lived under God’s grace. I’ve felt the power of the Holy Spirit pull my traveling friend and me away from a dark New York street. The Holy Spirit urges me to pray for friends and family. The Holy Spirit gifts us grace.
How do we use His gifts daily?
