1 Peter 2:1-3 NIV 2011
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Peter had just finished challenging the churches to be holy. 1 Peter 1:16, “for it is written: ‘Be holy because I am holy.’” He quoted Leviticus 11:44. He links the challenge with the word “therefore.” Being born again, they were like newborn babies. Just like babies need milk to survive, new believers needed to know God’s Word to remain in Him. Fellowship with other believers, study of God’s Word and prayer grow the faith of believers. Psalm 34:8a, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Feasting with God daily changes believer’s focus.
Jesus wants me to have a teachable heart, just like little children. I need to be willing to make changes in my life to keep growing as a child of the King. God wants me to have a teachable spirit. Meeting here each day keeps me focused on His ways rather than my own. I’m far from perfect but I know He wants me to continue to grow in my faith. “How Great Thou Art!” was the final song this morning. I feast with God when I sing.
How does God change us daily?
Flexibly feasting with Him,
