Ephesians 6:23-24 NIV 2011
“Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.”
Paul shared his final words with God’s people in Ephesus. He used “peace” to end his letters to the churches in Galatia and Thessalonica as well as his first letter to Peter. Paul’s letter began with peace. Ephesians 1:2, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Mental calm and God’s great grace are found in Christ alone. One commentator wrote, “The Greek word for brothers and sisters (adelphoi) refers here to believers, both men and women, as part of God’s family.” That commentary also gave an interpretation of Paul’s last sentence, “Or grace and immortality to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.” God has a sovereign plan and purpose for His people.
While in my teens I thought I was going to serve God as a missionary in Africa. But it wasn’t God’s sovereign plan. I also thought I would be the mother of more than three children. That was actually God’s sovereign plan for one of my sisters. His sovereign plan for me continues to enfold each year. I’ve served in each church I’ve joined, been a part of leadership with BSF and now I write His daily. God has always had a sovereign plan and purpose for me.
What’s God’s sovereign plan for you?
Purposefully pleasing Him,
