Psalm 28: 6-9 NIV 2011
Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
David offered praise to the Lord, similar to Moses and Paul. Psal, 28:2, “Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help.” He knew God heard his cries in the past and would hear them now. David declared in Psalm 18:1, “I love you, Lord, my strength.” Completely surrendered to the Lord, David never stopped praising Him. David continually focused his heart on who the Lord is. Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom then shall I fear?” The Lord stands steadfast and sure beside believers.
It is extremely encouraging to see so many friends and family stand firm in the face of adversity. Whether it’s personal conflict, illnesses or catastrophic life events, walking with friends fortifies my faith. None of us has ever been promised an easy life. Moses, David and Paul weren’t promised ease as they stepped out in faith for the Father. God’s Word does reveal He will always be with us even through those rough patches. He daily stands steadfast and sure beside all His believers.
How will we model standing with Him today?
