1 Timothy 6:11-12 NIV 2011
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Paul gave Timothy godly instructions regarding the church at Ephesus. His words were specifically focused on lives lived for Christ while fleeing from the worldly ways. The battle was always the Lord’s. Paul’s letters contained reminders regarding faith. 1 Corinthians 15:3, “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” Timothy was saved and called to witness. Titus 1:13, “This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith.” Saved sinners are the Lord’s witnesses in the world.
Salvation is not a process that happens over and over again. It is a one-time event happening the day we accept Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives. We are given eternal life and become Christ’s missionaries. Through the years I’ve learned my actions speak louder than either my words or my writing. When I become complacent in my walk, my witness suffers. I need to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness daily while fighting the good fight. I’m a saved sinner called to witness.
How are you witnessing for the Lord?
