Ephesians 1:7-9 NIV 2011
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ.
Paul shared all the blessings that came from the Father and then he delineated those that come through His Son. His words described all God had lavished on His faithful. 1 John 3:1, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” Jesus Christ is God’s Gift of redemption and forgiveness of sin. Romans 3:24, “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.” Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross was the price paid to redeem all sinners that follow Jesus. The Lord forgives sinners who follow Jesus.
There are some that feel their sins are so big God will never forgive them. The first time someone said that to me I turned to God’s Word and read Luke 23: 32-43. The penitent thief was told by Jesus in verse 43, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” God’s Word is the story of redemption and forgiveness. We need to remember to forgive ourselves after we ask for forgiveness. Sinners are saved and forgiven through Jesus.
What unconfessed sin needs Jesus’ forgiveness?
Saved and forgiven,
