Romans 12:20-21 NIV 2011

On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Paul was a master at word-smithing to clarify his thoughts. The faithful in Rome were made righteous through their personal faith in Christ. This enabled the church in Rome to shine the Light of Christ. Showing compassion to those who had less is a picture of Chris’s compassion at the cross. Their display of faith in action would possibly change the trajectory of their lives. He reiterated what he’d state before. Romans 12:9, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good.”The “church” is the only Jesus some may ever see. Jesus Christ over came evil by His perfect sacrifice at the cross.

When those around me are making a fuss, I can take a cue from the times I’ve held fussy little ones. I may be the only Jesus they will ever see and act accordingly. Shining Jesus’ Light is always the best way for others to see the Jesus in me. He overcame evil to save a sinner like me so I must shine His Light. May I never tire of sharing Jesus Christ with those around me. He overcame evil to save a sinner like me.

How do we reflect Jesus’ Light daily?
