2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV 2011
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
God spoke to Solomon and the Chronicler recorded His words. God would hold the people of Israel accountable for their sins. 2 Chronicles 7:22, “People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—that is why he brought all the this disaster on them.’” After the dedication of God’s Temple, the Lord appeared to Solomon a second time. Knowing the hearts and minds of His people to be temporal, God gave Solomon words of encouragement for the Israelites because Hehears their prayers. God responds and forgives humble repentant sinners.
One thing that differentiates me from non-believers is how I approach difficult events. As a follower of Jesus, I go directly to God in prayer. If there is sin in my life, He brings that to light. It is incumbent upon me to humble myself by making a 180-degree turn away from the sin. As the Lord was patient with the Israelites, He patiently awaits my return. Though I’m completely unworthy He responds and forgives me daily as a repentant sinner.
What stops saved sinners from seeking God’s forgiveness?
