2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV 2011
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
The apostle Peter wrote to the Christians in western Asia Minor. He continually armed them with God’s Truth to guard against creeping false teaching. All that they needed was found in God’s power. 1 Peter 1:5, “who through faith are shielded by God’s power…” Choosing to follow Christ is life changing. The Holy Spirit indwells all believers. Sanctified and set apart, God’s faithful live in the world but are not of the world. Ephesians 4:24, “and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Choosing Christ creates the Savior’s sanctified servants.
Breaking down what Jesus gave us at the cross into small pieces is helpful for me. We’ve been called to live godly lives not because we are good but because we’ve been justified. Romans 3:24, “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Remaining faithful to the Lord and His Word we are set apart. The Holy Spirit guides us. Choosing Christ we’re the Savior’s sanctified servants.
What daily choices help us serve Him?
