Psalm 27:4 NIV 2011
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
David believed the Lord would deliver him even during hard times. He began acknowledging God was his light, salvation and stronghold in Psalm 27:1. David trusted the Lord because of past experience. Psalm 61:4, “I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.” Moses went to God to intercede for Israel. Psalm 90:17, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us…” David longed to dwell with the Lord forever. Psalm 23:4, “…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” God remains with those who trust in Him.
Personally, I’ve cried out to the Lord during times of sadness and loss. Upon reflection, He’s been right beside me as together we walked through each one. If my life changed tomorrow, like David I know God would be there beside me. I need to be bathed in His Word to keep my focus upward instead of outward. The world in which we live tends to draw us away from spending time with God. Writing and worship keep me in God’s Word. I trust God and He remains with me.
How has God remained faithfully beside you today?
Trusting God together,
