Genesis 12:1-2 NIV 2011
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”
Abram was born ten generations after the flood and Tower of Babel. Terah, his father, trusted and followed God to Harran. The Lord spoke to Abram before leaving Mesopotamia. Acts 7:2b, “The God of glory appeared to our father, Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Harran.” Abram trusted the Lord. Hebrews 11:8, “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” God promised He would bless him. God calls His faithful to trust Him.
Abraham trusted God. His story in God’s Word has always been inspirational to me. God asked him to leave everything and follow Him. Jesus asked the same of the disciples. When we decided to follow Jesus, He asked the same question, “Will you trust me?” A close relationship with family and/or friends contains one critical component; trust. After we’re called to serve, it may bring uncertainty because we see the here-and-now. Daily I’ve found walking by faith helps me with those decisions. I’m called to trust Him.
How flexible are we to make changes?
Following His call,
