Ephesians 6:11-12 NIV 2011
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
The believer’s life is a process of action and life changing experiences. Paul’s final words required Christ’s followers in Ephesus to put on the Armor of God. 1 Thessalonians 5:8, “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” A spiritual battle was waged for God’s people. Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life…will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Believers are called to be strong in the Lord.
God’s Word offers believers everything needed for day-to-day life in the world today much like Paul offered to his readers. The enemy continues to be at work around us as we face every new experience in our lives. Knowing God’s Word and spending time in it daily, we are equipped with all we need to live victoriously. Armed with His Word, we have God’s Truth on our side. Nothing has changed in two millennia. Our strength comes from nothing less than Jesus.
