Psalm 119:17-20 NIV 2012

Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

This is the longest Psalm and holds more descriptions of God’s greatness than any other. Alienated from the world, the people sought the Lord. The more they worshipped God the more they became the citizens of His kingdom. Psalm 9:1, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” They thirsted for God’s law. Psalm 42:2, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Where can I go and meet with God?” Treasuring God’s Word opens the eyes of believers to His Truth.

I have eight different Bibles within arms reach as well as my Bible app. I do know there are men and women that don’t have that luxury. I can read it whenever I want. My prayer is that I never grow tired of reading and studying God’s Word. I seek God to open my eyes as I study His word. Dietrich Bonhoeffer said it best, “The words which come from God become, then, the steps on which we find our way to God.” God help me treasure your Word.

How does God’s Word delight you daily?

Treasuring God’s Truth together,
