Mark 8:31-32 NIV 2011
He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
Mark recorded the second feeding of a multitude of people in this chapter. His record discloses Jesus telling the disciples of His death which is also found in Matthew 16:21-28 and Luke 9:22-27. The message is clear, Jesus would suffer and die but He persisted in encouraging His followers to persevere through their suffering and persecution. The Gospel of Mark presents Jesus as the Servant Messiah. Jesus Christ came to die for the sins of all who place their trust in Him.
Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas. He was sent with a specific purpose to complete. Looking back on my life, I was born for a specific purpose. Trusting in Jesus as my personal Savior was what we are all born to do. Walking with him daily is what I get to do because I chose to follow Him. Trusting in His plan for my life is how He allows me to shine His Light. That’s why He came, to save sinners like me who place their trust in Him.
Who around you needs to hear the reason Jesus came?
Thankful Jesus died for our sins,
