Zephaniah 3:17 NIV 2011
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah, God’s prophet, was called to bring His warning of judgment upon the area which included Judah. He’d just revealed the landscape would change. Zephaniah 2:4, “Gaza will be abandoned and Ashkelon left in ruins.” Today Ashkelon is a tel, an archeological mound formed over many centuries of one community built above another. Two chapters state God’s judgment of their idolatry but ended with God’s promise. He reminded God’s faithful who Yahweh is, the King of Israel. God delights in them alone. Isaiah 62:4c, “for the Lord will take delight in you,” God delights in His faithful “with singing.” Those who faithfully follow the Father receive restoration.
Singing has always been a way for me to remain connected with the Lord. When I lift my voice in song to Him, I can feel His presence. As I finished my online BSF Sharing Day with my fellow leaders on Tuesday, one leader said we should sing “God Be with You.” Silence ensued. So I started singing the song but got a lump in my throat, I hummed the last of the verse but God helped me finish with the chorus. I was faithfully following the Father therefore I received his restoration.
Where do we see His restoration daily?
Restored and rejuvenated together,
