Psalm 4:5, Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV 2011
Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
David knew the Lord intimately. Going to the Lord in prayer was a consistent process for David. Looking within his heart, he knew the Lord was worthy of his trust. The writings in Proverbs focus on living wisely and leaning into the Lord rather than the ways of the world. Man’s wisdom pales in comparison to that of the Lord. Committing each day to the Lord meant placing complete trust in Him. Psalm 37:5, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” A heart submitted and surrendered to the Lord yielded trust. Trust in the Lord for life directions.
An active prayer life for me has always been key to a closer walk with the Lord. That helps my focus to be always looking up rather than around at the circumstances. Oh there are times when the wheels come off my bus and I need to get off the bus, find the wheels and make sure they’re secure. Thankfully, the Lord is faithfully there to assist me with that process. Together we make progress on His road. Daily trusting in the Lord, my path is straight.
