Job 16:18-19 NIV 2011
“Earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest! Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.”
Job was a righteous man who endured suffering with remarkable perseverance. James 5:11, “As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” Psalm 18:6, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice.” God’s people suffer and Job persevered as he clung to the Lord. Job 40:12, “The Lord blessed the later part of Job’s life…” God is the Timeless Redeemer.
The reality of life is bad things happen to good people. This is an every day fact of life for us today. Job was a righteous man but was not spared from hardship. We live in a fallen world that is daily fraught with unfettered evil and discontent. Until the Lord returns, the world is not as God created it. Just as the Satan was ultimately Job’s demise, He remains active today. As believers we must persistently persevere. God is our Timeless Redeemer.
