Exodus 15:12, Isaiah 41:10 NIV 2011
“You stretch out your right hand, and the earth swallows your enemies.”
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
One commentator wrote, “Exodus 15:1-18 A hymn celebrating God’s spectacular victory over the pharaoh and his army.” This was a song all the Israelites sang to the Lord. Exodus 15:1, “Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord.” God allowed the waters to swallow the Egyptians after the Israelites walked across on dry land because God was with them. Isaiah reminded Judah God would always be with them just as He promised to all that had gone before them. Psalm 119:117, “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.” God is Dependable and True.
One thing you can say about the children of Israel, they were unwilling to abide in the Lord. They would begin with the right attitude but eventually slipped into doing things there own way. I’d say nothing has changed today. When we come to the end of our rope, we cry out to the Lord for help. How did we get there? We stopped abiding in Him. Why? Because we are human and forget who He is. When I seek God daily, I do remember God is Dependable and True.
Where have we wandered today?
Abiding in God together,
