2 Timothy 3:11b-14 NIV 2011
Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it.
Paul’s two letters to Timothy, one of his disciples, were written to encourage him in his ministry even during difficult times. He reminded Timothy persecution would happen to all who are followers of Christ. In verse fourteen he urged Timothy to recall what he learned from his mother and grandmother as well as all that Paul himself taught him. Followers of Christ with unwavering faith will preserver even during persecution or difficult times in life.
While I will never say I have undergone persecution on the scale of Paul, there have been difficult times during my life. Walking with our sweet little girl as she walked into eternity, that was not an easy journey to take. Stepping alongside two amazing women as each walked into eternity were difficult times. Suffering the slings of those who do not know Jesus Christ in various forms, a small bit of persecution. Jesus is the Rock upon which I’ve placed my faith. He is there daily as I preserver even during the tough times.
Where do we see persecution as an opportunity?
Faithfully following Jesus,
