Colossians 3:12-14 NIV 2011
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Israel was called God’s chosen people. Deuteronomy 4:37, “Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength.” Paul repeatedly stated believers were chosen, divine election. Ephesians 1:4, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” God desires believers to reflect Him in their lives. 1Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” The love of Christ binds believers together perfectly.
Upon reflection of some of the sweetest fellowship with believers in my life, there’s none that stands out as the best. Praying with fellow believers, worshipping with them or standing next to them in times of struggle, there is a unity that is not found outside that circle. The privilege of praying for/with my fellow believers bind us together. Being clothed with Christ, He gives me the ability to forgive others. I’m bound and united with others because Christ first loved me.
How does Christ work in us daily?
Bonded in Christ,
