2 Corinthians 7:9-10 NIV 2011

—yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Dissension in the church at Corinth occurred because of false apostles who came after Paul. They challenged his authority and Paul wanted to encourage them in their faith. As followers of Jesus they would experience highs and lows as believers. Worldly sorrow centers around self and sin. Godly sorrow centers on recognition of sin and the need for repentance. Both result in grief for all believers. Firmly standing with the Lord was Paul’s answer to the church facing sorrow. Jesus Christ is the only answer to human grief.

Listening to the news of the spread of the Corona Virus is spun in a myriad of ways with fingers pointed in many directions. At the end of the day, we live in a fallen world of sin. The only answer is Jesus Christ. I am confident God’s grace creates generosity so I’m lifting all those impacted by the virus to the Great Physician. I’ve added a daily prayer for a revival. Praying the hearts and minds of many to turn to Jesus Christ as their only answer to their grief.

What ways will we point the unbelievers to Christ?

Standing for Jesus,

S
