Colossians 2:8-10 NIV2011
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
The Apostle Paul wrote letters to both Timothy and the church at Colossae to caution and remind them they were secure in Christ not Christ plus anything else. Lives lived for Christ would resist whatever tickled their ears. 1 Timothy 6:20, “Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care.” The Son was given authority and power when God sent Him. Matthew 28:18, “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’” God’s Son was sent to save sinners.
Paul’s message remains relevant to the church today. Belief that Jesus’ died for our sins is the foundation upon which our faith is built. Studying God’s Word keeps my eyes focused on Him not what the world says. The question is, do we trust Jesus and believe what He said by living it out on a daily basis? Sin separates all sinners from our Great God. I need to live my life with absolute abandon to Him. My sins have been nailed to the cross.
How does knowing Jesus transform lives?
