Romans 8:26-27 NIV 2011
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit interceded for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Paul consistently stressed the suffering believer’s experience paled in comparison to their future glory as saved sinners. 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” The Holy Spirit is ever present in the lives of believers testifying before Him. Romans 8:16, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Especially during times of suffering the Holy Spirit is ever present. The Holy Spirit intercedes giving comfort to suffering saved sinners.
Ephesians 1:13b, “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.” If I learned nothing else in my walk of faith, this is at the core of my faith. I don’t need a tattoo because He marked me and I know I am His. The Holy Spirit is with me daily guiding my steps. Just like a dog that looses his scent, I’m able to return to the course laid before me. During those hard times of suffering or doubt, The Spirit gives me comfort.
