Mark 3:20-21, 34b-35 NIV 2011
Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
“Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Mark’s Gospel continually revealed Jesus as the Servant-Messiah. True to his character, Mark emphasized what Jesus did rather than His words. Here Jesus, having just called the twelve disciples was teaching in Capernaum. Wherever Jesus went, flocks of people followed Him. Mark 3:7, “Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.” Jesus’ family could not comprehend the reason He was preaching. They tried unsuccessfully to take Him home. Jesus ended by speaking God’s Truth. Following Jesus believers receive membership in God’s spiritual family.
Work-life balance was the favorite phrase from 1980 through the early 2000’s. Computers have given many the opportunity to work from home. Finding that balance in our lives has changed with the electronic age. What is the most important “thing” in our lives? While my family is right up there, God is number one for me followed by family. Jesus placed His mission to share the Good News above His family and food. Following Jesus I write daily as member of God’s family.
How are our lives balanced?
