Nehemiah 8:10 NIV 2011
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
The book of Nehemiah was written after God’s people from Judah returned from Babylonia captivity. They were tasked with rebuilding the temple under God’s direction. Ezra brought the Israelites together. Nehemiah 8:2, “So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought out the Law before the assembly.” Nehemiah encouraged the people to remember God’s gracious provisions but not forget those less fortunate. Deuteronomy 16:14, “Be joyful at your festival—you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.” The joy of the Lord is strength for His faithful.
April 2014 was when I found strength in the joy of the Lord. Sharing Isaiah 40:11 with a friend began my daily journey of writing “the daily” now dailybysally.com. Given the opportunity to share God’s Word and how it impacts my life has been an amazing joy filled walk of faith. I wait and He faithfully shows up helping me joyfully share Him with you. He has expanded my knowledge of His Word with each daily we write. The joy of the Lord is truly my strength.
How do you find strength in the Lord’s joy?
Sharing Him faithfully,
