Genesis 3:1,15a NIV 2011
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat from any tree in the garden?”
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman…”
God created the serpent. The “great deceiver” took its form to deceive and craftily question Eve. His words were devised in such a way as to peek her self-centeredness. The Apostle John refered to the devil/Satan. Revelation 20:2a “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan.” Satan’s desire was to deceive and alienate Adam and Eve from God. At other times Satan uses various avenues by accusing people to alienate them from God. God chose the skin from an animal to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness/sin. Sin causes mankind separation from God and to be lost eternally.
This portion of Scripture is where I frequently go as a reminder that this is where it all began long ago. Daily reading of God’s Word shows me who is lurking for God’s people: Satan. Our amazing God created the universe and in no time at all the enemy took on the form of an animal altering the course of humanity. God had a perfect plan for each of us. As sinners each of us deserves death. God gave us a way not to be separated from Him: Jesus.
What is separating us from Him today?
Eternally His forever,
