2 Thessalonians 3:10, Matthew 16:26 NIV 2011
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule, “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?”
Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica to remind them they needed to work for a living and not remain idle. Remaining steadfast in their resolve as believers included providing for themselves and those around them. Jesus spoke words of caution for his disciples to remain steadfast. He questioned them about the validity of their work and purpose. They needed to be aware of their message. They could never loose site of why they worked for the Lord. He called them to follow and spread the Good News, which led to salvation of souls. The most important job of believers is to share Jesus Christ.
The way we work today demands much of our time and talents. Working moms and dads sometimes find little time for family when the day is done. It can be a stretch to find time being a parent while being a worker bee. I was able to stay home because our priority was focused on me being there for our girls. I believe both Jesus and Paul called for us to balance our job/career with our commitment to Christ. I’m called daily to share Jesus Christ with those in need.
Who needs to know Jesus?
