Deuteronomy 4:29, 2 Chronicles 6:37a, Jeremiah 29:13 NIV 2011

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

And if they turn back to you with all their heart…

Moses called Israel to hear God’s Words as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. Remaining in the Lord meant actively seeking Him daily. Their total commitment to God and God alone was His request. Revering God was tied to obedience to His ways and serving Him. Solomon’s prayer of dedication contain words for God’s people just as Moses’ words; seek God with all their heart. Jeremiah echoed Solomon’s prayer; return to the Lord their God with all their heart was their mission. God desires believers pray with all their heart.

Flying home from Australia involved persevering with all my heart. Arriving in China, we realized there was a flight to LA in three hours. Dashing off for the ticket counter, I began to explain to those English was not their first language our desire. Two change fees later we were on our way to LA 20 hours earlier. Arriving in LA, I ran to change our last flight. Sitting on that flight I realized this is how I must pray, with all my heart.

Why should we pray with all our heart?

Whole heartedly seeking God,
