Matthew 5:9, Romans 14:19, Psalm 34:14 NIV 2011
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Jesus was speaking to the crowds on a mountainside. Some commentators called The Sermon on the Mount “King Jesus’ inaugural address.” Those listening were children of God. Romans 8:14, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Paul called the Romans to seek peace as God’s people. Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at pace with everyone.” David knew and cherished the peace he found in God. James 3:18, “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” God calls believers to seek, share and extend His peace.
I was reading about ways to share and extend God’s peace. A woman, after visiting her daughter and son-in-law serving as missionaries in India, made a decision to make a difference in the lives of sixteen young girls. She founded prayingauntiesnetwork.blogspot.com. God led her to pray to make a difference in the lives of young women rescued from human trafficking. Warmed my heart after being led to walk 5Ks in Seattle to raise money for human trafficking. I’m called daily to seek, share and extend His peace.
How will we extend God’s peace today?
Prayerfully sharing His peace,
