Ephesians 4:15-16 NIV 2011
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Paul began this portion of his letter encouraging the faithful to love and forgive one another. He led them toward a new relationship between Jews and Gentiles within the church. Ephesians 4:2, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Their hearts humbled and shaped by Christ would consistently use God’s Truth in conversations. Christ was given all authority, Ephesians 1:22, “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church.” Each part of the church grew stronger through their love. Unity in love binds believers together in Christ.
It has never ceased to amaze me when meeting a sister in Christ the first time the wealth of experiences we share. Moving to Ohio, I found a group of women I was immediately comfortable sharing my past, present and future dreams. The Lord drew me to a special woman just my age and we share the ways the Lord is at work in our lives. My sister in Christ was His gift. Our love of Christ binds us together.
How does love bind fellow believers together?
Loving Christ daily,
