Luke 18:1, Romans 1:10a, 12:12 NIV 2011
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
…in my prayers at all times…
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Prayer was an integral part of the life of Christ, His disciples and Paul. Jesus used parables to teach the disciples. His time spent in the presence of the Father showed the disciples how He prayed. After meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus, Paul learned prayer was how he remained close to the Lord. Spending time in prayer each day enhanced Paul’s way in his continued walk with the Lord. He understood his faithfulness in prayer grew his faith. Prayer is the key to a believer’s closer walk with Christ.
Yesterday we drove with our daughter and her family in two cars to Eastern Washington. My niece reached out via text on the drive asking for prayer. Her friend was having surgery and I sent her John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” After sending the request on to other prayer warriors, I prayed as we drove and continued praying for her friend throughout the day. She just sent a text that the surgery went better than expected and he’s now recovering. This was her next text, “The fervent prayers of the righteous avails much.” Praying daily brings a closer walk with Christ.
Who needs our fervent prayers today?
