Romans 12:12, Hebrews 6:12, James 5:10, 2 Peter 3:15a NIV 2011

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation.

Paul, Hebrew’s author and other New Testament writers wrote about patience. Revelation 13:10, “This calls for patient endurance…” In Galatians 5:22 patience is one of the fruit’s of the Spirit. Enduring triumphantly is another form of patience. Patience helps believers remain strong in the Lord. Seeing patience in others strengthens believer’s resolve. Jesus Christ endured His walked to the cross to save sinners. God is patient, long-suffering.

Patience can be in short supply at this time of year. A song from the late 1990’s is a favorite about patience, “Patience (Herbert the Snail Song).” The last two lines of the chorus, “Remember, remember that God is patient too and think of all the times when others have to wait for you.” In our Nano-second world, we want everything right this second. God desires that we have patience and not be in a hurry. The times I become impatient, I remember God is patient with me daily.

Where have you seen God patiently wait for you?

Grateful God is perfectly patience with we sinners,
