Romans 15:13, 1 Timothy 1:1 NIV 2011

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope…

Paul reminded the Romans their hope came from God. Romans 5:6, “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” God divinely gave the gift of hope. Romans 8:25, “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Paul began his letter to Timothy expressing the same truth of where hope can be found. Hope is found in faith alone in Christ alone.

I can remember responding, “I hope everything is OK” or “I hope you are doing well.” I’ve learned over the years those words just aren’t me. The Lord has shown me I can respond with, “How may I pray for you?” Unless we know who Jesus is and what He did at the cross for us, we have no hope. “My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus name.” My hope is found daily through my faith in Christ.

What is your description of hope?

His hope-filled,
