Isaiah 60:19-20 NIV 2011
The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.
Isaiah wrote of everlasting deliverance coupled with everlasting judgment in the final nine chapters of his book. These verses though apocalyptic were given God’s people offering hope for their future. Revelation 21:23, “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives light, and the Lamb is its lamp.” No light will be needed. The joy of salvation will be the only light necessary. Revelation 21:4a, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” The Lord transforms people and circumstances in His perfect timing.
Some days I loose sight of who I am and fail as His servant by forgetting to turn on my light. I may be the only Jesus some will ever see. If I don’t flip my switch in the morning, a day can be lost. We have a Savior unlike the Jews of Isaiah’s day and God’s Word that is very clear. Revelation 1:7, “Look, he is coming with the clouds.” God’s timing is perfect and He transforms us daily.
