Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIV 2011
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
The author of Ecclesiastes showed wisdom is better than folly. Ecclesiastes 2:13, “I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness.” One commentator wrote, “Humans cannot by all their striving achieve anything of ultimate or enduring significance. They cannot fundamentally change anything.” These two verses show God’s people working as team is much better than going it alone. When two people work together they can accomplish more than one person toiling alone. Working together people lean on one another. Working alone there’s no one to support that individual. God calls His people to work together.
When young I thought I could conquer the world alone. Over the years I’ve learned I function better when I work with at least one other person as a team. When we began construction on our home, we found many friends coming together helped get the job done much faster than my husband working alone. Paul was called to share the Good News but had many companions that shared the load. I’ve never served in the church as a committee of one. Marriage is a man and woman. We’re called to work together.
What team is God calling you to join?
Team working together daily,
