Psalm 40:2-3 NIV 2011
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, and out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.
A Psalm of David after taking refuge in the Lord and waiting patiently for Him. Psalm 2:12b, “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” David went on in verse 4, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside from false gods.” David turned to the Lord in prayer during times of trouble. In verse 12 he stated, “my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.” He acknowledged his sin and asked the Lord to save and help him. The Lord saves.
David knew God and sought Him daily. His Psalm’s give us a glimpse into a man who even though a sinners, was faithful to God. A sinner myself, I know the Lord saved me when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. He is the one constant in my life. He’s lifted me from some pretty dark places and stood me on firm solid ground. I place my trust in Him every moment. The Lord even saved a sinner like me.
What slimy pit is surrounding you?
Graciously saved by Jesus,
