Isaiah 60:8-9 NIV 2011
“Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests? Surely the islands look to me; in the land are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your children from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”
Isaiah began his writings using 39 chapters of warnings to Israel of God’s judgment. They would be judged. The last 29 chapters were words of comfort to cling to in captivity. He painted a picture of their triumphal return from captivity by God’s grace. They would spend time being refined and readied to return. God would bring His treasured people back from the darkness of Babylon. God would use the dark days in Babylon to strengthen and encourage them. God transforms people and circumstances for His glory.
No matter what is going on in our lives right now, God remains faithful. Just as He was always faithful to Israel, He is faithful to us. It’s when we go through those hard places that we see Him in all His glory riding to our rescue. Maybe God’s not as fast as we’d like but He is never late. Daily resting in Him keeps me focused on Him rather than what’s swirling around me. A friend once told me, “If you aren’t sure, look up” That’s when He transform me for His glory.
How is God transforming us today?
