Exodus 20:1, Psalm 19:7, 119:142 NIV 2011
And God spoke all these words.
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true.
God spoke to Moses giving Israel’s divine law, the Ten Commandments, in verses 2-17. This was the code by which Israel was to live. The Psalms revealed the Lord was perfect and all could delight in His Word. Psalm 1:2, “but whose delight is in the law of the Lord…” David knew the Lord was firm and trustworthy. Psalm 19:9b, “The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.” God’s Word is understandable. Psalm 119:130, “…it gives understanding to the simple.” God’s Word is true. Psalm 119:160, “All your words are true…” God’s Word is true, the perfect standard.
If I know nothing else studying God’s Word, I know this: it is the plumb line by which I must live my life. Holy, True, Righteous God offered me His amazing grace at salvation. I deserve death but He’s given me eternal life. No one has been or ever will able to keep all His Laws so He sent Jesus. He gave us the standard to live by daily. I fall short every single day but after confessing my sins, I can start again. Jesus: the perfect standard from God’s True Word.
How does God’s True Word help you?
Grateful for God’s Word,
