Psalm 147:1a, 5-7, 20b NIV 2011

Praise the Lord.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.

Praise the Lord.

Many Psalms were written in praise of the Lord. Levitical choirs sang these psalms praising God the Father over all. The mighty hand of God was visible throughout Israel’s history. Exodus 14:31, “And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.” God is without limits. Psalm 145:3, “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.” Praising God is good. Psalm 33:3, “Sing to him a new song, play skillfully and shout for joy.” God is always worthy of praise.

Awake in the wee hours this morning with sleep eluding me, all I could do was pray. And still sleep did not come when my prayer was completed. So I just lay there and praised the Lord. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. In Him and through Him are all things are made perfect. He’s the author of my salvation. Daily I praise the Lord.

How will you praise the Lord today?

God’s worthy,

S
