1 Samuel 1:27-28 NIV 2011
“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
Hannah prayed during the yearly trip to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh. She prayed to God like the psalters. Psalm 66:19, “but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.” She promised the Lord he would be His. The priest Eli thought she was drunk because her prayer was silent. The Lord remembered her and she gave birth to a son, Samuel. After weaning him she remembered her prayer and promise to the Lord. She and her husband, Elkanah, took Samuel to the house of the Lord at Shiloh presenting him to Eli. God hears the prayers of His people.
I remember the long years between the birth of our first daughter and our second. Crying out to God asking why we didn’t have another child I could relate to Hannah. Prayer has become an important part of my life. Spending time in the presence of the Lord gives me time to worship and praise Him for all He’s done in my life. He is my Rock and Deliverer. He’s always faithful. Prayer has kept my focus humbly on Him. The Lord hears my prayers daily.
