Hebrews 11:1, 4 NIV 2011

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurances about what we do not see.

By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Hebrews faith examples exhibit how believers can be faith examples. Christ is the perfect example of being faithful. Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house.” The faithful needed their eyes fixed on Jesus. Cain was focused on himself. Genesis 4:3, “In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruit of the soil as an offering to the Lord.” Abel focused on pleasing God. Genesis 4:4a, “And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn.” Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

My first memories of Sunday morning were getting ready to go to Sunday school and church. With eight people it could get a little crazy but we were always among the first to arrive. My parent’s faith drove my desire to know the God of the Bible. My journey, leading to today, was peppered with parts I’d like to disregard. I’ve been forgiven and today I’m a better person for it. Faithfully asking for forgiveness from sin daily, God is pleased.

How are we passing our faith along to family/friends?

Pleasing God faithfully,
