Psalm 136:1-4 NIV 2011
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. To him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever.
God is worthy. Psalm 105:1, “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” God is good. Psalm 100:5, “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” God’s love endures. Psalm 118:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” God is God. Deuteronomy 10:17, “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of Lords, the great God, mighty and awesome.” God’s wonders are unbelievable. Job 9:10, “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed…” God is worthy of praise.
The Psalms have always been some of my favorites. They are the first Scripture I memorized and remember them daily. Psalm 1 is actually the backdrop for a hymn, “Blessed is the Man.” Psalm 23, read at memorial and funeral services, was the one I chose to be read at our daughters “Home Going” celebration. From prayers to praise, they are a great way to start my day. Located at the very center of God’s Word they point us to God who is worthy of praise.
What makes God worthy of praise?
