Ephesians 1:16-17 NIV 2011
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Prayer was an integral part of Jesus’ life as well as Paul’s and many throughout the Bible. 1 Samuel 12:23, “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.” They prayed that God would guide those in their prayers to be made aware of His presence by using intercessory prayers. Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you.” Prayer is the foundation of believer’s faith.
Daily spending time in God’s Word has shown me from Genesis to Revelation, God wants to have a relationship with His people. The best way I can do that is each day finding time to go to Him in prayer. What makes it even better is when I can pray for others. It’s always such a humbling blessing when asked by a friend to pray for them. Asking, seeking and knocking at His door is the prayer model Jesus gave us. Prayer is the foundation of my faith.
